Roblox Chat Safety Settings
A family checklist for Roblox chat, friend requests, private servers, spending, reporting, and stranger-contact rules.
Roblox safety is less about one setting and more about a stack: account age, chat permissions, friend requests, private servers, spending controls, game choice, and what the child does when someone moves the conversation elsewhere.
Parents should pay special attention to requests to move to Discord, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Instagram, or another private channel. Moving platforms can remove the child from the protections and context of the original game.
A good Roblox rule pack is simple enough for the child to repeat: known friends, no secret chats, no moving apps, ask before spending, show weird messages, and report early.
Parent Checklist
- Review chat and communication settings with the child.
- Limit friend requests to known people or parent-approved contacts.
- Set spending controls and remove saved payment methods.
- Make a no-moving-apps rule for strangers and new online friends.
- Teach the child to screenshot or show weird messages before blocking.
What to Say
Games are for playing. Private pressure from strangers is not part of the game.
If someone wants to move to another app, that is a stop-and-show-me moment.
You can always show me a weird message without losing Roblox automatically.
